Book Making

Some samples of what I've been working on in my latest class. We are making books in a variety of bindings and applications. This example is my altered book. I took the story of Little Red Riding Hood and altered the story a bit. It is an accordian fold book with the well-known version on the front side of the pages and the wolf's version running parellel on the opposite side. Both versions finish with an explosion of fur and red fabric.

Backgrounds

I thought I would post a background I've been working on. It began with a black and white layout designed by Ron Pagenkopp that we needed to color key. Here is my prep work:
And then the finished piece, using acrylics:

Character Design

Here are some preliminary sketches for a character design I did for my cartooning class. We had to design members of an animal family. My character was the mother seagull.

Personal Work

I had some time over the winter break from school to try out my new found inking techniques. My sequential art class helped to get me practicing inking (or at least using my paint markers).

Update

I finally have a few moments to spare. I thought I would share some character designs I'm working on for a special studies class. They are based off "Alice in Wonderland," but with a few little tweaks. These pieces are the sorceress Queen and Alice.
